By default i cannot ping the computers hostname but i can ping their ip addresses. 1. Install libnss-winbind sudo apt-get install libnss-winbind 2. Modify nsswitch.conf gedit /etc/nsswitch.conf 3. Locate the line "Host:" then append with "wins" at end. so it look like this below: hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns wins 4. Save the file then exit. 5.
